Responsibilities
The County Court handles the following types of cases:
- Traffic and municipal ordinance violations
- Misdemeanor criminal cases
- Preliminary hearings in felony cases
- Civil cases involving amounts up to $70,000
- Small claims cases involving amounts up to $7,500
- Probate/Estate/Trust Proceedings
- Guardianship and conservatorship
- Adoption proceedings
- Juvenile matters
For security reasons, recording devices, purses and bags are not allowed in the courtroom. A certified interpreter will be provided during court for persons who are not fluent in English.
